Days 65-67 -- Saturday-Monday, July 4-6

The reunion was a success. Barbara, her mother, Juanita, her new husband, Chap, and her offspring, Stephen, Susan, and Shelly, all made it along with the grandkids (I'm not even going to attempt naming them all). My siblings, nieces, and nephews were all present and accounted for, too. It was a fun couple of days, filled with good food, lots of memories and laughter. And swimming, lots of swimming. I even got to savor, for the first time in ten years, the scrumptious homemade peach ice cream that is a July 4th tradition at the Leveridge house.

On Sunday night, I took my brother's kids to their first drive-in movie. We took in The Babe at the Winchester Drive-in in south Oklahoma City. The movie had its sappy moments but, all in all, was pretty good. I think the kids enjoyed their first night at the drive-in.

I had an amazingly quick flight back to Phoenix on Monday. I left OKC at 12:10 pm and arrived in Phoenix at 12:20. I drove I-17 north again, through Flagstaff and on to the Grand Canyon. It took me an hour or more to erect my tent at the campground there. The dry, rocky soil refused to hold the stakes. Finally, I got it standing and went to the Hit the Spot bar down the road a bit for a burger and a beer before calling it a night.
